Ethyl acrylate is an easter compound formed by the esterification of acrylic acid and ethanol. It is easy to polymerize and is an important polymer monomer in industry used to produce the copolymer of ethyl acrylate-chloroethyl vinyl ether, ethyl-acrylate-ethylene, etc. Also can be used as coating protective liquid and in leather industry. Colorless transparent liquid at room temperature, flammable, pungent irritating odor, slightly soluble in water, miscible with ethanol and ether, low toxicity, with carcinogenic effect on animals.
